Mt.Kirigatake, at an elevation of 507 meters, is the highest point in Uragawara Ward, Joetsu City.
There are two climbing courses up the mountain - the Koyajima route and the Kirigatake Onsen (Yuami) route. The former takes about 95 minutes to reach the summit while the latter takes about 115 minutes.
From the summit you can see the "three mountains of Kubiki" - Mt.Myoko, Mt.Hiuchi and Mt.Yake as well as the Sea of Japan.

|Traffic access(train):||Take the Hokuetsu Kyuko Hokuhoku Line to Mushigawa Osugi and from there it's 5 minutes by taxi.|
|Traffic access(bus):||Take a Higashikubiki bus to Yuami and from there it's 10 minutes on foot. Buses do not run on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays or between Dec.29 and Jan.3.|
|Traffic access(car):||Take the Joetsu IC exit on the Hokuriku Expressway and it’s 30 minutes to Kirigatake Onsen (Yuami). Or, take the Kakizaki IC exit on the Hokuriku Expressway and from there it's 30 minutes to Kirigatake Onsen (Yuami). Or, take the Kan'etsu Expressway to Muikamachi and from there it's 65 minutes to Kirigatake Onsen (Yuami).|
