Kotagahama (the spot where Shinran Shonin the saint landed)
After being exiled from Kyoto in 1207, Shinran landed on this spot in the Kokufu area. The place became a park, and you can enjoy the beautiful sunset on the Sea of Japan from the observation tower. The nearby Kota shrine has a memorial hall displaying the 'one sided reed' which is one of the seven mysteries of the Echigo area.
