Experience Takada's "Machiya" (long & narrow) style house.
Takada is the only place in Japan where streets with covered walkways can still be found. The main building (Machiya) on the covered street looks unassuming from the outside but contains an attractive, spacious area within. Built in the Edo period, it is representative of houses in Takada from that time. It was the former Imai dyer shop and Kentaro Kanazu wooden tub shop. (Guided tour available).
